Willard Ross Brymer Sr. - A "true" killer. Murderer of Oscar "Ringo" Bonavena. Deserves no mention however detailed information should be told.  

This was one guy not to mess with. A no conscious individual with the strongest of convictions. A sizable heavyweight himself, had actually done plenty of amateur boxing. If that wasn't good enough, always armed and ready "to go."

"Former Nevada Brothel Bodyguard Found Dead

RENO, Nev. (AP) -- Ross Brymer, a former Mustang Ranch bodyguard
who served time for killing boxer Oscar Bonavena at the brothel's gate,
was found dead Tuesday. He was 55.
Brymer's body was found in a friend's home. The cause of death
wasn't immediately apparent, and autopsy results weren't expected
for about two weeks.
Brymer served 15 months in prison after pleading guilty to voluntary
manslaughter in the 1976 slaying of the Argentinian boxer. Bonavena
was a top-ranked heavyweight title contender whose opponents included
Muhammad Ali.
Investigators said the killing may have been premeditated because
Bonavena allegedly was the lover of then-brothel owner Joe Conforte's
wife, and guards had orders to shoot him if he showed up at the brothel.

Brymer later got a life term for arranging the sale of the drug Valium
to a police undercover agent and started serving time on that sentence
in mid-1985. He was paroled in 1991 but returned to prison in 1995
as a result of a parole violation. He was released again in 1996.

Another interesting fact: Ken Norton had told me that Oscar Bonavena was scheduled to be his next opponent.

The iconic Iwo Jima Flag Raising occurred on this day in 1945.  Of the men in the photograph Sergeant Michael Strank, Corporal Harlon Block, and Private First Class Franklin Sousley were all killed in action. The other three Marines in the photograph were Corporals (then Privates First Class) Ira Hayes, Harold Schultz, and Harold Keller. These men all served as members of the 5th Marine Division. This flag raising was the second that occurred atop Mount Suribachi during the Battle of Iwo Jima towards the end of the Pacific War. This image quickly became the symbol of the resilience of the US Marines during WWII. The photo was taken by Joe Rosenthal.

Man crushed to death by bulldozer at Mahdia. A machine operator was on Tuesday afternoon crushed to death by a bulldozer after it encountered mechanical problems at 111 Miles Mahdia, Pataro River, Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni). Dead is Kennard Craig, 55, of Number 67 Village, Corentyne, Berbice. Reports are the man was operating the heavy-duty machinery and in the process of climbing a hill, the equipment encountered problems and suddenly cut off. Nevertheless, he managed to restart the machine with the help of a colleague. It was after the machine restarted, it rolled backwards and trapped Craig. From reports received, the man’s head was completely crushed by the machine. He was taken to the Mahdia Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. F Division (Interior locations) Commander, Rabindranauth Budhram confirmed that the accident occurred, while noting that an investigation was launched.
