A KENYAN LAWYER IS SUING ISREAL AND ITALY FOR KILLING JESUS CHRIST
A Kenyan lawyer wants to put one of history’s most famous trials back on trial.
Dola Indisis, a former spokesman for Kenya’s judiciary, is suing Israel and Italy at the International Court of Justice over the death of Jesus Christ. His claim: the trial held more than 2,000 years ago was deeply flawed and unjust.
Indisis argues that Jesus was a victim of “judicial misconduct, abuse of office, bias, and prejudice.” He says the Roman court relied on weak evidence, questioned Jesus unfairly, and allowed punishment to begin before the trial was properly concluded violating basic principles of justice.
After a Kenyan court dismissed his petition in 2007, Indisis turned to the ICJ, hoping it would declare the ancient trial legally invalid and symbolically clear Jesus of wrongdoing.
Legal experts, however, say the ICJ has no authority over such a case and is unlikely to hear it. Still, the bold move has sparked global attention—and reopened debate about one of the most pivotal moments in human history.
