Heroes like Tracy Lynn Alger deserved more than silence

Image
The road outside Shubayshen was quiet on November 1, 2007. Dust hung in the air.  Engines hummed. Lieutenant Tracy Lynn Alger sat inside her vehicle, focused and alert, leading her soldiers through another dangerous mission in Iraq. She was 30 years old. An Army officer. A leader. A protector. Tracy served with the 3rd Brigade Combat Team of the 101st Airborne Division, based at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. She wore her uniform with pride. She took responsibility seriously. Every patrol meant lives depended on her decisions. She never forgot that. Her soldiers remember her steady voice over radios. Her calm face under pressure. Her habit of checking on everyone before worrying about herself. She was not just in charge. She cared. That day, an improvised expl*sive device struck near her vehicle. The blast changed everything. Tracy suffered severe w*unds. Medics rushed to save her. Doctors fought for her life. For days, hope stayed alive. Family and fellow soldiers waited, praying she wo...

On November 9, 2016. The Villagers of Ogbia community Killed a GIGANTIC Snake They Thought Had Eaten Livestock.

Image
Warning: graphic content below not meant for the faint at heart Locals who killed a huge snake after suspecting it of having eaten a calf because of its swollen stomach discovered it was pregnant with dozens of eggs. The incident happened in Nigeria where local media said the snake had been killed over accusations it had been feasting on farmers’ livestock. However as these images show, the snake was not overweight because of its last meal, it was actually pregnant with many eggs The villagers killed the snake and cut it open to find dozens of eggs The Villagers in the West African country consider snakes' eggs a delicacy This is the worst case of human cruelty to animals I have heard of, they should have hire snake catcher to help them take the this massive creation to snake zoo, instead they killed and feast on the innocent animal.  This is terrible! Stop Killing Snakes! Were you taught that “The only good snake is a dead snake?” Well, you’re not alone. I understand tha...

Facing the Death: the different expressions of six Polish civilians moments before death by firing squad, 1939

Image
Facing the Death: the different expressions of six Polish civilians moments before death by firing squad, 1939 It’s interesting to see the range of emotions displayed by these men: anguish, defiance, stoicism, acceptance, and fear, the third one from the left is even smiling. The execution took place during the Bloody Sunday in Bydgoszcz, Poland, 1939. Bloody Sunday was a series of killings of members of the German minority that took place at the beginning of World War II. On September 3, 1939, two days after the beginning of the German invasion of Poland, highly controversial killings occurred in and around Bydgoszcz (German: Bromberg), a Polish city with a sizable German minority. The number of casualties and other details of the incident are disputed among historians. The Nazis exploited the deaths as grounds for a massacre of Polish inhabitants after the Wehrmacht captured the town. In an act of retaliation for the killings on Bloody Sunday, a number of Polish civilians were ex...

In 1976, Shavarsh Karapetyan risk his career to save lives

Image
He'd just finished a 12-mile run when a bus full of people plunged into a reservoir—so he dove 33 feet down and saved 20 lives, ending his Olympic career in the process. Then, nine years later, his lungs still damaged from that day, he ran into a burning building and did it all over again. September 16, 1976. Yerevan, Armenia. Shavarsh Karapetyan and his brother Kamo had just completed their morning training—a brutal 12-mile run along the Yerevan Reservoir. Shavarsh was 23 years old and at the peak of his athletic powers. He was a finswimming champion who'd broken 17 world records. The 1980 Olympics were in his sights. He was catching his breath when he heard it: the screech of metal, the crash, the screams. A trolleybus—number 2, packed with morning commuters—had lost control and plunged off the road into the reservoir. Within seconds, it had sunk 80 feet from shore, settling at a depth of 33 feet. The murky water swallowed it whole. Inside were dozens of people. Trapped. Drow...

Richard Smith – the last man to hang for rape.

Image
45 year old Richard Smith came to trial before Mr. Justice John Bosanquet at the Town Hall in Nottingham on the 14th of March 1835, charged with the rape of Mary Green in the Parish of St. Peter on the 24th of July 1835. 13 year old Mary was a servant to Smith who ran a drapery business in Carrington Street in Nottingham.  On the night of the 23rd of July, Smith sent Mary out to fetch some beer.  When she returned with it, he gave her a glass of it.  He also gave her some brandy and water and Mary was beginning to feel the effects of the alcohol.  She went to her room feeling ill and soon fell asleep, only to be woken by Smith getting into bed with her.   She alleged that intercourse had taken place.  She begged to be allowed to go home which was refused but Smith did allow her to go for a walk and she managed to get back to her parent’s house in Paradise Street.  Later in the day of the 24th her parents had her examined by surgeon, Mr. John Thomp...

Respect to Joseph Lee Galloway 'He is the only civilian to receive a medal from the U.S. Army for valor during the Vietnam War' "Joseph Lee Galloway was an American news correspondent and columnist.  He is the only civilian to receive a medal from the U.S. Army for valor during the Vietnam War—a Bronze Star with Combat V for rescuing wounded soldiers under fire in the Ia Drang Valley in November 1965.  A veteran of 42 years in journalism, he was coauthor with retired Army Lieutenant General Harold G. Moore of "We Were Soldiers Once . . . and Young".  That book was made into a movie - "We Were Soldiers" —a motion picture based on the book starring Mel Gibson as Moore and Barry Pepper as Galloway. “We who have seen war, will never stop seeing it. In the silence of the night, we will always hear the screams. So this is our story, for we were soldiers once, and young.” - Joseph L. The execution of fourteen-year-old George Stinney lasted four excruciating minutes.

Image
The first attempt to electrocute the teenager caused the mask to slip off, revealing his wide and teary eyes for all the witnesses in the room to see. It took two more jolts of electricity to execute the innocent young man. Seventy years after Stinney’s conviction, Judge Carmen T. Mullen overturned Stinney’s first-degree murder conviction, stating that his sentencing was “cruel and unusual.”  Although the sheriff claimed Stinney confessed to the murders of two girls, no written or signed statement was presented. An all-white jury deliberated for only ten minutes and sentenced the black teenager to death. To this day, Stinney’s case remains one of the worst cases of racial injustice. This story originally appeared in True Crime Factbook. From Ted Bundy authoring a pamphlet instructing women how to prevent rape, a serial killer saving the life of a prison guard during a riot, to a groupie plotting Richard Ramirez's prison escape, True Crime Factbook is the ULTIMATE true crime t...

THE NEW MEXICO PENITENTIARY RIOT, WHICH TOOK PLACE ON FEBRUARY 2 AND FEBRUARY 3, 1980

Image
The New Mexico Penitentiary Riot, which took place on February 2 and February 3, 1980 in the state's maximum security prison south of Santa Fe, was one of the most violent prison riots in the history of the American correctional system: 33 inmates died and more than 200 inmates were treated for injuries. None of the 12 guards taken hostage were killed but seven were treated for injuries caused by repeated beatings and rapes. This location was used by Adam Sandler’s movie The Longest Yard and the water tower still bears the fictional name, Allenville. (Note: it has also been used for other movies and is used for storing movie props today) These are the areas that are considered to be the most haunted in New Mexico. The accounts start in 1981 and have continued into the present day. They have been seen by corrections officers as well as members of the New Mexico National Guard. The most active areas of the former prison are Cell Block 4 as well as Cell Block 3; which housed the maxim...

Killing someone's Soul ...

Image
Killing someone's Soul ...  Emotionally Dead has to be the Worst Death!  Bone Pointing ...  A strange method of execution used by Aborigines. Supposedly the practice never fails to kill despite the fact that the victim is never physically harmed. The practice leaves no trace whatsoever on the condemned. This practice is carried out by a Kurdaitcha, or a ritual executioner. The name Kurdaitcha comes from the slippers that the Kurdaitcha wear. These slippers, made of cockatoo or emu feathers and human hair are completely silent when the user walks in them. The Kurdaitcha will use this silence to quickly hunt down the person to be killed if the person has fled. Once the person is caught the Kurdaitcha will go down onto one knee and point the kundela, or killing bone (which will have been charged with a psychic energy in a previous ritual), at the condemned.  At this point the victim is said to be completely frozen in fear. The Kurdaitcha will then chant a curse. Afterwa...

The angery snake

Image
This snake crawled over a sharp saw and was left bleeding by its cut. In anger, the snake wrapped the Saw with its thick body and proceeded to squeeze the life out of the Saw.  Sadly, with each angry squeeze on the saw, it felt more pain. The snake continued because it wasn’t going to let the Saw get away with the pain it had caused it.  The snake, refusing to let go of the Saw, eventually died from more cuts that resulted to loss of blood. It failed to realize that the whole time, she needed to let go of the initial pain and focus on its future; where it was going.  Unfortunately the snake eventually lost its life because of an uncontrollable anger and quest for vengeance. This can be you reading me now.  I hope you know that it's not all battles that are worth fighting for. At times, letting go is actually a way of winning through. Most of the actions you've taken when you are angry has always turned back to hurt you.  Most of the decisions inclusive yo...

The Reason Magda Goebbels stole the lives of her six children.

Image
The Reason Magda Goebbels stole the lives of her six children. In the final days of April 1945, Berlin was no longer a city but a wound. Streets that once echoed with life were reduced to broken stone and smoke. The air trembled constantly from shellfire, and the sky glowed at night with distant flames. Deep beneath the ruins of the Reich Chancellery, in a concrete bunker cut off from daylight and hope, six children lived their last days unaware that the world above them was ending and that their own future had already been taken away. They were the Goebbels children: Helga, twelve years old; Hilde, eleven; Helmut, nine; Holdine, eight; Hedwig, six; and little Heidrun, just four. To anyone who might have seen them in those final weeks, they looked like ordinary children placed in extraordinary circumstances. Their hair was brushed. Their clothes were tidy. They shared toys, whispered secrets, and clung to routines as if routine itself could protect them. Their mother, Magda, stay...
